XP Limits and your Deposit Amount

The effect of spending XP is always tempered by your DEPOSIT amount due to:

Caps on the amount of XP you can spend into each of your NFT's attributes are based on your DEPOSIT amount.

Once you hit your maximum XP spendable to a given attribute, you can no longer spend XP into that attribute, only into other attributes. If you wish to increase the amount of XP you can spend into a particular attribute, you can do so by increasing your deposit size.

Caps on the total XP you can spend are based on your DEPOSIT amount.

Once you hit your maximum XP, then any actions that would normally earn you XP will no longer do so. If you wish to start earning this XP again, you can increase your deposit size by making a fresh deposit into your NFT, or by claiming and then redepositing your claim to increase your deposit size. This will in effect raise your XP caps, allowing you to earn XP again.

The effect of spending XP into a particular attribute is capped based on your DEPOSIT amount.

When adding to Speed or Stealth, the effect on your ROI percentage is divided by your DEPOSIT size.

Another way of thinking about this, is that with a smaller DEPOSIT size, you will generally speaking be receiving less XP for compounds, and may have less capital available for airdrops or investments into the Swamp to earn XP by those means, but you also require less XP to max out your daily ROI and max balance amounts. Or as a converse, you may receive a lot of XP with a larger deposit size for actions, but it will also take a lot more XP to max out your attributes with that size deposit.

You must have a positive Net Deposit Value (NDV) to receive XP

I order to be eligible for receiving XP, you must have a positive NDV.

In other words, if you have claimed more than the value you've added into the system, you are no longer eligible to receive XP and upgrade your NFT.

Example:

Consider Joan, who deposits 1 OOZE. Without upgrades, her BALANCE can grow up to 8x her deposit (meaning 8 OOZE for Joan).

She then quickly grows her monastery, recruiting members with relatively higher deposits, easily meeting the XP requirements to upgrade her STRENGTH to the maximum, meaning she can now grow her BALANCE up to 12x her deposit (or a total of 12 OOZE).

Joan will now spend all of her XP to max out STRENGTH:

So, then Joan's max balance of OOZE will then be 12 OOZE:

Joan then makes an additional deposit of 1000 OOZE, raising her DEPOSIT to 1001 OOZE. This means then that her new maximum base balance is 8008:

With her XP spent earlier on STRENGTH, does Joan now have a maximum BALANCE of 12000 OOZE?

No, because the XP received and allocated to STRENGTH was from her smaller DEPOSIT size. Her smaller DEPOSIT meant that her OOZE STRENGTH upgrade could only be 4, so it is here as well. Her new maximum BALANCE is then 8012 OOZE:

These mechanics protect the system against manipulation and ensure that all size DEPOSITs have ability to benefit from the XP system proportionally.

As you can see in the allocation formulas in , there is a fixed ratio of XP to OOZE added to your MAX BALANCE (via STRENGTH). This means that spending XP to your STRENGTH raises your MAX BALANCE by a fixed amount of OOZE rather than a multiplier.
